Spot Color Separations


Spot Color Separations PantoneĀ® solid colors are widely used as matching basis for spot color separations. Practically any color may be used whether PMS or otherwise.

Spot colors are often added to all of the separation types but especially 4 color process to enhance certain colors or where out-of-gamut problems arise.

Spot color are specific colors with the highest opacity and allow for the most flexibility when printing on dark substrates.


Considerations:
  • Opaque or semi-opaque inks may be used
  • Color matching and best coverage when used on dark substrates
  • Usually need maximum screens for a full color image
